Mission

After a decade of making environmentally thought provoking, and socially engaging outdoor arts- Hotch Potch are on a mission to hear from you! We would really like to know how our work has impacted your event, visit or local experience in Cornwall. This year we hope to embark on a funded project which will enable us to bring our "Tiny but Mighty Feedback Tent" to a wide range of outdoor events around Cornwall. This will support us to open a dialogue with audiences and artists. As well as producers who passionately make great things happen outdoors in Cornwall's communities.

"At free to access festivals, it can be difficult to gather information about the audience's experience, given they can't necessarily be contacted after the event with a survey to fill in. Tiny But Mighty gives festivals and event organisers the chance to collect vital information about the impact of their event with audiences, while audiences enjoy a fun participatory experience. It's a great way for organisers to get to know their audiences better without needing to pressure them into completing any paperwork! Tiny But Mighty's research is an excellent way to prove the obvious value experienced by audiences attending free to access events."

Vision

We aim to continue the growth of Hotch Potch through engaging Cornwall's communities in our research. While we tour to Cornish towns and villages this year, we aim to help fund extra activities at Cornish events, including an installation that gathers thoughts and feedback from event goers. Exploring topics such as the environment, social engagement and accessibility- in the form of a participatory installation, expanding throughout the day. Have your say! and add your input to be pegged up on a washing line within the Tiny but Mighty Tent.

"We had a great reaction from residents and businesses about the entertainment and I would definitely recommend you to any town looking to enhance their town centre whether it be over the Christmas period or for events throughout the year!" -Alice Beard, Former Newquay BID Manager

Enriching Cornwall's Communities

Social engagement is at the heart of Hotch Potch. We are passionate about facilitating high quality outdoor arts and street theatre in Cornwall. Whether that's bringing our storytelling shows to a local town festival, or popping up at an annual lights on event, with some of our walkabout performances. The social exchanges we make during these times are the reason we do what we do. "Tiny But Mighty" would see us expand and develop our practice, moving towards more co-creation and collaborative thinking within community arts across Cornwall.

"You really do cement the day for me in terms of joining everything up and getting that engagement with visitors. Absolutely love it."

"Hotch Potch's performances offer a vital lifeline. They help to bridge the gap between different social groups, creating shared experiences that can unite communities."...

"Hotch Potch Performance holds a special place in Cornwall's cultural landscape, bringing a touch of magic to unexpected places. Their work is particularly significant in providing access to the arts in some of the most deprived areas of Cornwall. This accessibility is crucial as it fosters a sense of community and inclusion, allowing people from all walks of life to experience the joy and inspiration that the arts can bring.

In areas of Cornwall where opportunities to engage with the arts might be limited, Hotch Potch's performances offer a vital lifeline. They help to bridge the gap between different social groups, creating shared experiences that can unite communities. By making the arts accessible to everyone, Hotch Potch put into practice the principle that cultural enrichment is not a privilege but a right for all residents of Cornwall.

Their performances are not only engaging but also increasingly serve as a cornerstone of Cornwall's community festival culture. Festivals in Cornwall are often ancient, always vibrant celebrations of local heritage, and Hotch Potch's involvement adds a unique flair to these events. Their presence at festivals helps to keep local traditions alive and vibrant, contributing to the overall festive atmosphere. The public engagement they achieve through their performances ensures that the arts remain a dynamic and integral part of the community.

Moreover, Hotch Potch's work in public spaces transforms ordinary locations into stages for extraordinary experiences. This element of surprise and delight is essential in making the arts feel accessible and relevant to everyday life. By bringing performances to unexpected places, they challenge the notion that art is confined to traditional venues, making it a part of the daily fabric of life in Cornwall.

Hotch Potch Performance enriches Cornwall's cultural landscape, making the arts accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Their work not only entertains but also empowers communities, fostering a sense of belonging and shared cultural identity."
